Leidos has received a U.S. Army award valued at up to $127 million to continue operating the Airborne Reconnaissance and Targeting Exploitation Multi-Mission Intelligence System (ARTEMIS), sustaining rapidly deployable airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities across Europe and, when needed, other regions. The award extends ARTEMIS operations within the U.S. European Command area of responsibility through the summer of 2027 and includes two additional option years.
The company has supported the mission since 2020, providing commanders with real-time intelligence to detect threats, maintain situational awareness and accelerate decision-making.
“ARTEMIS combines the flexibility of commercial aircraft with military-grade sensing to deliver timely intelligence wherever commanders need it,” said Jason McCarthy, Leidos senior vice president, Airborne & Mission Solutions. “As threats continue to evolve, we’re providing the Army with a proven, rapidly deployable ISR capability that helps commanders stay ahead of the fight and make decisions with greater confidence.”
Leidos delivers ARTEMIS as a Contractor-Owned, Contractor-Operated capability built around a modified Bombardier Challenger 650, supplying the aircraft, mission systems, flight operations and support services. Initially fielded as a technology demonstrator, the platform has evolved into a globally deployable, high-altitude ISR asset that strengthens the Army’s intelligence collection and offers flexibility to support operations across multiple theaters.
The award advances the company’s NorthStar 2030 strategy by expanding its Defense Tech and Mission & Digital Solutions portfolio, emphasizing mission-critical sensing, airborne ISR and decision-advantage capabilities to help defense customers maintain operational readiness and address increasingly complex security challenges.
The contract was awarded through the Army’s Common Hardware Systems-6 next-generation prime vehicle for rapid procurement of C5ISR hardware solutions and services. CHS-6 provides the U.S. Army, all military service branches and federal agencies with a rapid tactical and operational equipment and service procurement experience.
