Miami — Palantir Technologies Inc. said it intends to join the U.S. Army’s “sprint” of Army and defense industry hackathon events to integrate critical military technology systems, supporting the Army’s “Right to Integrate” (R2I) Hackathon.

The company framed the effort as advancing interoperability and information access for the Warfighter and argued that commercial software standards demand open, accessible platforms that interoperate with products of any configuration and scope. It described itself as a vanguard in creating open and interoperable capabilities and said the same standard should apply to government software. Palantir said the R2I Hackathon will ensure offensive and defensive weapon systems and business systems across the Army can integrate, share data, and communicate with one another.

Palantir said there are more than 20,000 active developer accounts in deployments of its platform across the DoW, including U.S. Army Vantage, U.S. Air Force Envision, and the DoW-wide Maven Smart System. The company said its software is rooted in modular open system architecture (MOSA) standards, uses common industry protocols, languages, tools, and frameworks, and publishes all application programming interfaces on its public website. It added that it supports developer-friendly software development kits, including Palantir’s Ontology SDK (OSDK) for data operations and the Platform SDK for interacting with the Palantir Platform.

According to the company, the platform includes more than 210 out-of-the-box connectors to third-party systems, supports dozens of common data-sharing protocols, and can ingest and export virtually any file type. Palantir said this foundation enables interoperability with systems that expose MOSA-driven APIs as well as legacy, locked environments.

The company said it continues to experiment with emergent connection paradigms and plans to work with Army and defense industry partners through the R2I Hackathon, with the goal of accelerating and scaling interoperability across the Army and the DoW.
