Senior enlisted leaders from across the Air Force convened April 28 at Air Force Materiel Command headquarters on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for the Spring 2026 Enlisted Force Development Panel, signaling a continued push to deliberately grow enlisted talent for future leadership demands.
The panel reviewed the full development pipeline for Airmen—from entry-level training through advanced leadership assignments—to ensure career pathways keep pace with mission needs and evolving operational requirements.
“I believe developing our enlisted Airmen is one of the most important roles we have,” said Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force David Wolfe. “The decisions made here directly shape the strength, readiness, and future of our force.”
Discussions centered on modernizing professional military education, boosting technological literacy, and refining the senior leader orientation course. Participants also focused on identifying high performers and aligning them with key opportunities to build a more agile, capable enlisted corps.
Senior enlisted leaders emphasized consistency and fairness in talent management, highlighting mentorship, targeted training, and career-broadening roles as essential to preparing Airmen for greater responsibility.
The attendance of the service’s top enlisted Airman and senior enlisted leaders from every major command underscored the panel’s enterprise-wide impact on readiness and leader development across the total force.
Hosting the session at AFMC—headquartered at Wright-Patterson—reinforced the command’s influence in shaping the enlisted corps as the Air Force adapts to shifting global demands and prepares for future challenges.
