The Air Force has rolled out myBodyComp, an official application for recording waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) measurements, as part of its modernized Physical Fitness Readiness Program. The service said myFitness remains the system of record for fitness and readiness assessment scores, while myBodyComp will be used to log WHtR data.

Airmen without a qualifying exemption must have a current WHtR on file by July 31. Members of the Air Reserve Component have until Aug. 31.

The requirement stems from a July 9 memorandum from the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs and represents a one-time biometric collection to establish a baseline for the program that took effect July 1. The measurement is separate from the Physical Fitness Readiness Assessment and will not impact fitness scores, test currency, or other personnel actions.

“Standards are the foundation of discipline and readiness,” said Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Ken Wilsbach, in his July 13 Letter to the Force on standards. “To strengthen our readiness, every Airman must focus on fitness and appearance standards.”

Airmen who completed a measurement between March 1 and June 30 and elected to retain the result as official do not need to be remeasured; those results will carry over automatically. Airmen whose diagnostic scores were purged, or who have no entry since March 1, must complete a new measurement before the deadline. A purged result documented on a hardcopy AF Form 4446 signed by both the assessment administrator and the member may be applied to meet the requirement.

Exemptions include a full medical exemption documented on AF Form 469, pregnancy or postpartum exemptions, or a composite exemption associated with an approved retirement or separation within 12 months. Partial exemptions for individual fitness events do not waive the WHtR requirement unless a medical provider specifies otherwise.

Measurements are performed by trained PFRA administrators or fitness assessment cell staff. The waist is measured midway between the lower rib and the top of the hip bone and compared with height to calculate the ratio.

ARC members in a qualified duty status must comply. Those attending regularly scheduled drills or unit training assemblies in July or August must complete the measurement by Aug. 31. ARC wing and installation commanders are responsible for execution in their organizations.

Local points of contact are force support squadron fitness assessment cell and fitness information manager personnel. The Air Force Services Center has posted measurement and data-entry training materials on its fitness SharePoint site. Unresolved questions can be sent to [email protected].
