Brent G. Ingraham has been sworn in as the Army’s Assistant Secretary for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology, assuming oversight of a roughly $170 billion portfolio spanning more than 550 programs. The Senate-confirmed presidential appointee will be responsible for ensuring soldiers are equipped with advanced technologies and capabilities as the service pushes ahead with modernization.
In the role, Ingraham serves as the Army Acquisition Executive and Senior Procurement Executive, as well as science advisor to the Secretary of the Army and the department’s senior research-and-development official. His office also holds principal responsibility for Army logistics.
Ingraham arrives with extensive Pentagon experience. Most recently, he performed the duties of Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, supporting the department’s acquisition enterprise, contract administration, logistics and materiel readiness, installations and environment, operational energy, chemical, biological and nuclear defense, the acquisition workforce, and the defense industrial base. He previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Platform and Weapon Portfolio Management, overseeing major platform and weapons capability portfolios across the department, including air, surface, cyber, and electronic warfare systems.
His career highlights include leading the Joint Rapid Acquisition Cell, serving as chief engineer for the Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected All-Terrain Vehicle program, and directing surface warfare efforts. He began his career in the automotive sector as a powertrain engineer before entering federal service in 2010. His work on vehicle survivability earned him the Navy’s Top Scientist and Engineer of the Year Award in 2013.
Ingraham holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of New Hampshire. His honors include the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Service and the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Meritorious Civilian Service.
The Army’s acquisition office said it will continue to drive innovation, acquisition performance, and logistical readiness under his leadership.
