WASHINGTON — The U.S. Postal Service on March 6 announced it will issue commemorative stamps honoring the 250th anniversaries of the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps.
The postal agency directed readers to its full announcement, titled USPS Announces Commemorative Stamps.
All three services trace their origins to 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized forces during the American Revolution. The Army recognizes June 14, 1775, as its birthday; the Navy, Oct. 13, 1775; and the Marine Corps, Nov. 10, 1775.
USPS routinely marks national milestones and military heritage through special stamp issues that appeal to collectors and everyday customers alike.
