U.S. Southern Command said Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on June 16 against a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations in the Eastern Pacific, acting on the direction of commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan.
The command said intelligence had confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations.
According to the command, one man described as a narco-terrorist was killed and two male survivors remained following the action. U.S. Southern Command said it notified the U.S. Coast Guard to activate the Search and Rescue system for the survivors. The command reported no U.S. military forces were harmed.
