U.S. Southern Command directed a lethal kinetic strike on May 26 against a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations in the Eastern Pacific, the command said. The action was carried out by Joint Task Force Southern Spear under the direction of Gen. Francis L. Donovan, the command’s leader.
Intelligence confirmed the vessel was moving along known narco-trafficking routes and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations, according to the command.
One male narco-terrorist was killed and two people survived, the command said.
After the engagement, the command notified the U.S. Coast Guard to activate search-and-rescue efforts for the survivors. No U.S. military personnel were harmed.
