Capt. Russell A. Herrell has been relieved of duty as commanding officer of REDCEN San Diego by Rear Adm. Greg Emery, the commander of Naval Information Force Reserve (CNIFR), according to a Navy announcement. REDCEN San Diego is a subordinate command of CNIFR, which is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas.
“The Navy maintains the highest standards for leaders and holds them accountable when those standards are not met.”
The service did not provide additional details about the decision in the announcement.
