The Long Range Anti-Ship Missile, developed in the United States, is built to detect and destroy enemy ships at long distances and is described as a central element of counter-maritime strike operations aimed at preserving an advantage over adversaries.

“The B-2’s impressive performance underscores the US military’s commitment to adaptability and flexibility in the face of emerging security challenges,” said General Kevin B. Schneider, Commander, Pacific Air Forces. “By prioritizing counter-maritime strike operations, we can maintain a decisive edge over adversaries, protect our national interests and ensure the free and open Pacific that underpin our global security.”

Officials framed the LRASM deployment from the B-2 as a notable advance in addressing maritime threats, highlighting high-end innovation and reaffirming stated commitments to protect national interests and uphold global security.
