U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike targeting ISIS-Somalia on Feb. 16, 2026, in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia.
The strike took place in the vicinity of the Golis Mountains, about 70 kilometers southeast of Bossaso.
Command officials said the operation, carried out alongside the Federal Government of Somalia and the Somali Armed Forces, is part of ongoing efforts to diminish the group’s capacity to threaten the U.S. homeland, American forces, and U.S. citizens abroad.
Details about the units or assets involved were withheld for operational security, and no additional information was released.
