U.S. Forces Conduct Strike Targeting ISIS-Somalia

U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike targeting ISIS-Somalia on March 8, 2026, in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia.

The strike occurred near the Golis Mountains, about 70 kilometers southeast of Bossaso.

The command said it is continuing, alongside the Federal Government of Somalia and the Somali Armed Forces, efforts to reduce ISIS-Somalia’s capacity to threaten the United States, its forces, and American citizens abroad.
