U.S. Space Command will mark the opening of its first dedicated operational facility on the Redstone Arsenal garrison with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 29, 2026, hosted by Gen. Stephen N. Whiting.
The milestone follows the President’s Sept. 2, 2025 announcement to move the command. Within a day of that decision, a small team arrived in Huntsville, and since then the command has been carrying out the directive under a Redstone Transition Team based full-time in Alabama. The ceremony signifies a key step as personnel from the command’s intelligence directorate begin executing operational missions from Redstone.
Working with allies and partners, the command plans, executes, and integrates military spacepower into multi-domain global operations to deter aggression, defend national interests, and, when necessary, defeat threats.
