Lockheed Martin secures MDA contract to modernize missile-defense modeling and simulation platform

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Aug. 11, 2026 — Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) said it has been chosen by the Missile Defense Agency to update and sustain the agency’s Objective Simulation Framework, a virtual testing environment for the United States’ missile defense system. The effort, called the M&S Vistas Framework, will guide the platform’s continued development and modernization.

The company said the work will leverage its digital transformation investments and be executed in close collaboration with MDA’s Directorate of Engineering, which is leading digital transformation across the agency, to deliver a next-generation capability.

“Missile defense in today’s threat landscape presents an integration challenge across a vast ecosystem,” said Erika Marshall, vice president of Enterprise Mission Command and Control at Lockheed Martin. “M&S Vistas Framework will deliver software-driven innovation and a transformative testing environment that will efficiently deliver capabilities to our operators, reducing risk and ensuring America and its allies are ready for the threats of tomorrow.”

According to Lockheed Martin, the program aims to strengthen layered homeland missile defense by more tightly connecting design, implementation and testing. The company said the framework builds on its longstanding role in operational missile defense, emphasizing iterative development, data-driven insights and ongoing experimentation to support real-time, coordinated responses for warfighters around the world.
