HONOLULU — Lockheed Martin showcased new command-and-control and battle management capabilities at the Valiant Shield 2026 exercise, tying together sensors, weapons, and decision tools across multiple domains to speed targeting and engagement for U.S. and coalition forces.
“These demonstrations highlight the power of integration to create operational advantage,” said Joe DePietro, Mission Integration Command and Control vice president and general manager at Lockheed Martin. “Our battle management systems and multi-domain expertise are already being applied in real-world operations, providing a strong foundation for innovation. When we combine that operational experience with modern software and digital technologies, we can move faster from innovation to mission impact.”
A Guam-focused battle manager demonstration featured a CommandIQ-powered application that generated prioritized engagement recommendations and allowed operators to adapt responses in real time. The system fused live and simulated inputs from multiple Integrated Air and Missile Defense systems — including C2BMC, the Aegis Guam system, THAAD, IBCS, and ABADS MD — to create a common picture for regional defense decision-makers. It displayed planned engagements, used artificial intelligence to weigh options and conserve munitions, and, once approved by an operator, digitally tasked the appropriate weapon system while coordinating readiness across others. The company described the cross-force recommendations for ballistic, hypersonic, and air defense threats as a first-of-its-kind capability at the exercise.
In a separate long-range targeting trial, Lockheed Martin integrated commercial sensors and processing to accelerate targeting decisions. Working with HawkEye 360, the system produced and shared unclassified tracks derived from commercial radio-frequency data. The effort leveraged edge-based processing, exploitation, and dissemination to maintain on-demand signals-intelligence track custody across multiple sensors and systems.
A live tracking event paired the AN/TPY‑6 radar with the Aegis Guam system and a Vertical Launching System in an expeditionary setup for simulated Guam-defense scenarios, marking another step toward early operational capability. The AN/TPY‑6, derived from the company’s S-band S4R production line, is designed to detect, track, and classify air and missile threats and to operate through jamming. During the exercise, the radar — fully integrated with the Aegis Weapon System — demonstrated the ability to detect, track, and engage advanced hypersonic threats while computing engagements across ballistic, hypersonic, or cruise profiles, selecting interceptors, and timing launches to raise kill probability.
Lockheed Martin also emphasized integration at scale by using its CommandIQ platform with the Aegis Guam system and TPY-6 radar to coordinate decisions at multiple classification levels, aiming to improve speed, precision, and interoperability for joint and coalition operators.

The company underscored the growing importance of interoperability, software-driven capabilities, integration, and real-time data sharing in contested environments, where decision advantage hinges on connecting sensors, systems, and operators across domains with speed and confidence.
