The Department of the Air Force has chosen Centinel Public Partnerships, LLC and IHG Hotels & Resorts to take over on-base lodging through a 50-year lease, advancing a Commercial On-Base Lodging initiative first announced in May 2025. The deal is intended to shift lodging operations across Air Force and Space Force installations in the United States and its territories to a commercial model, with lease execution and the handover of operations targeted by fall 2027, the department said.
Under the plan, the Air Force will phase the transition to keep hotels open and limit disruptions. Centinel will lead development and recapitalization efforts, while IHG—one of the world’s largest hotel operators—will manage day-to-day hospitality services.
The first 23 installations slated to move under the partnership are:
– Altus Air Force Base, Okla.
– Barksdale AFB, La.
– Beale AFB, Calif.
– Buckley Space Force Base, Colo.
– Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz.
– Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga.
– Edwards AFB, Calif.
– Eglin AFB, Fla.
– Goodfellow AFB, Texas
– Hurlburt Field, Fla.
– Joint Base Andrews, Md.
– JB Charleston, S.C.
– JB Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska
– JB McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J.
– Little Rock AFB, Ark.
– MacDill AFB, Fla.
– Maxwell AFB, Ala.
– Nellis AFB, Nev.
– Robins AFB, Ga.
– Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C.
– Shaw AFB, S.C.
– Sheppard AFB, Texas
– Travis AFB, Calif.
“The Department of the Air Force is committed to a seamless transition for this first group of installations. Our ultimate focus is to recapitalize these assets and deliver an enhanced quality of life for our Airmen, Guardians and their families,” said Michelle Robey, Commercial On-Base Lodging Program Management Office chief.
The move follows a broader Defense Department trend of leveraging private-sector partners to modernize installation services. IHG already manages a large portfolio of privatized hotels on Army posts under a separate program, offering a potential template for the Air Force’s shift.
