Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force David Wolfe and his wife, Dr. Doniel Wolfe, spent two days at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana, July 22-23, meeting with Airmen and families who support the nation’s nuclear enterprise and getting a close look at operations across the 341st Missile Wing.

During the visit, Wolfe met with operators, maintainers and security forces to discuss mission readiness and the day-to-day demands of sustaining the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile force, a key component of the land-based leg of the U.S. nuclear triad that stands alert around the clock. He also led an all-call focused on leadership, quality of life, professional development and the future of the force.

“If you’re in a leadership position, that’s the go-do from the boss and I: be really good at it and take care of our people the way they deserve to be taken care of,” Wolfe said. “Listen to them, take their problems on and be the champion of their solutions.”

Reflecting on how high standards shape careers within Air Force Global Strike Command, Wolfe added: “The spirit and discipline that comes with being in Global Strike Command is what absolutely changed my young career …,” Wolfe said. “This is the place where you learn what the rules are, why it’s important to follow those rules and the seriousness of what we do. Consider yourself lucky that you have the opportunity to serve in a place where the standard is the standard and that’s it.”

While Wolfe focused on operational demands, Dr. Wolfe met with military spouses, key support liaisons and installation support organizations to discuss family readiness, access to resources and the unique pressures families face in the missile community. Base officials said the engagements emphasized the link between resilient families, prepared Airmen and the success of the nuclear deterrence mission.

The visit underscored the teamwork and precision required to keep Malmstrom’s ICBM enterprise on alert, as well as the importance of leadership attention to both mission execution and the well-being of the force and their families.
