CSAF and CMSAF meet with warfighters at CENTCOM

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Ken Wilsbach and Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force David Wolfe wrapped up a multiday swing through the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility Aug. 23–25, meeting deployed units, surveying conditions on the ground, and conferring with regional air chiefs on coalition integration, according to the service.

The senior leaders used the visit to hear directly from Airmen about operational demands and how units are converting readiness into day-to-day performance under pressure. “It’s impressive to be in front of American heroes, and I don’t say that lightly,” Wilsbach told a room full of deployed Airmen. “That’s the way I view it. You’re gritty, courageous warriors fighting for our country. I’m so impressed by you, proud of you, and thankful to be on your team.”

Airmen across the theater continue to support a wide slate of missions that draw on fighters, bombers, tankers, mobility aircraft, intelligence and surveillance platforms, and air defense systems, the Air Force said. The visit highlighted the people enabling that tempo—maintainers generating sorties, defenders securing installations, logistics teams moving cargo, analysts tracking threats, and communicators keeping networks resilient.

Quality-of-life concerns were a parallel focus. Service leaders reiterated support for deployed units and emphasized the link between living and working conditions and sustained combat capability. “Each of you demonstrate unmatched courage and technical precision in the face of persistent threats,” Wolfe said while meeting warfighters on the ground. “Operating in a contested environment tests our resolve, but our strength comes from you. We’re proud of you.”

Wilsbach and Wolfe also met with partner-nation counterparts to discuss regional stability and ways to deepen interoperability, with an emphasis on aligning readiness and lethality across a fast-changing theater. The trip concluded with sessions on integrating airpower for major combat operations alongside regional partners, the service said.

“Our battle-tested Airmen inspire confidence in our current and future force,” said Wilsbach. “The Air Component has shown up and demonstrated we’re a critical team player within the Joint Force and this region.”
