Defense Department identifies Army casualty

The Department of War said an active-duty soldier supporting operations in Jordan is believed to have been killed during an enemy attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base on July 17, 2026.

Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York, was previously listed as missing by U.S. Central Command. His status has since been updated to Duty Status–Whereabouts Unknown, and he is believed to be deceased. The incident remains under investigation.

Rampersad was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air & Missile Defense Command, based in Ansbach, Germany.
