General Donovan visits Honduras

U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Francis L. Donovan, commander of U.S. Southern Command, completed a two-day visit to Honduras that included meetings with Minister of National Defense Enrique Rodríguez Burchard and Chief of Defense Gen. Héctor Benjamín Valerio Ardón. He also presided over a Joint Task Force–Bravo change of command ceremony in which U.S. Army Col. David A. Webb took command from U.S. Army Col. Robert C. Snyder III.

Discussions with Honduran military leaders focused on deepening the bilateral defense partnership and advancing shared goals to counter narco-terrorist illicit activity through the Americas Counter Cartel Coalition, a hemispheric initiative involving 18 partner nations aimed at promoting peace, safeguarding sovereignty, and bolstering regional security.

Joint Task Force–Bravo, a subordinate unit to U.S. Southern Command, supports joint operations, activities, and investments across a Joint Operations Area that covers all seven Central American countries. The task force reflects the longstanding U.S.–Honduras security relationship and a joint commitment to address threats while building interoperability.

SOUTHCOM emphasized ongoing collaboration with partners such as Honduras to detect, disrupt, and dismantle drug-trafficking networks in the region, describing the effort as directly benefiting U.S. national security while respecting Honduran sovereignty.
