U.S. Southern Command said Joint Task Force Southern Spear carried out a strike on April 19 against a vessel in the Caribbean that it described as being operated by designated terrorist organizations involved in narcotics trafficking.
The command said intelligence had confirmed the vessel was moving along known narco‑trafficking routes and was engaged in narco‑trafficking operations.
Three men described by the command as narco‑terrorists were killed. No U.S. military forces were harmed.
The action was conducted at the direction of Gen. Francis L. Donovan, commander of U.S. Southern Command.
