RAMSTEIN, Germany — Members of the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Europe & Africa joined colleagues, friends and family at the Ramstein Officers’ Club on Sept. 11 to mark the promotion of U.S. Army Maj. Steven Mason to lieutenant colonel.
The ceremony highlighted a career progression built on years of service across the theater. Master Sgt. Becker, the organization’s senior enlisted leader, served as master of ceremonies. The presiding officer, Lt. Col. Alan Strange, commander of DLA Troop Support Europe & Africa, formally introduced the promotion order. In a symbolic moment underscoring family support, Mason’s wife, Dana, and daughter, Emma, pinned the silver oak leaf insignia to his uniform.
Reflecting on the occasion, Mason said, “What began approximately 16 years ago as the start of a journey I could never have fully envisioned has brought me to this truly special moment. Throughout the years, the journey has been marked by challenges, memorable experiences, demanding days and nights, and countless opportunities for growth and service.”
Mason credited mentors, peers and teams for shaping his path and emphasized the collective nature of his achievement. “Reaching this milestone is a moment for which I am both immensely proud and sincerely grateful,” he said. “It represents not only years of dedication and hard work, but also the mentorship, camaraderie, relationships and memories that have made this journey so meaningful and rewarding.”
The event offered the DLA Europe & Africa community a chance to recognize Mason’s record of service and the added responsibilities that accompany his new rank. His leadership will continue to support mission readiness and supply chain operations spanning the U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command areas of responsibility.
Grateful for the turnout of colleagues and loved ones, Mason added, “It is a great honor to celebrate this achievement in the company of those who have been an important part of my journey. Your presence makes this occasion all the more special as we share an afternoon of celebration, fellowship, and a toast to this milestone and the chapter that lies ahead.”
