Air Force Brig. Gen. Patrick Launey, commander of DLA Weapons Support (Richmond), presided as Navy Cmdr. Edwin Jimenez concluded his tenure as officer in charge and transferred responsibilities to deputy director Joshua Waller, who will serve as interim OIC until a new commander arrives in June.

“This ceremony reflects the strength of our partnership with the Cherry Point community and the dedication of the DLA Weapons Support team,” said Jimenez. “Together, we ensure the mission never misses a beat.”

The event brought together DLA personnel, mission partners and guests to recognize Jimenez’s leadership. Officials said coordination with the local installation community helped ensure a smooth transition.

“Transitions in leadership are moments that remind us of the strength of our mission and the dedication of the people who carry it forward,” Waller said. “We honor Cmdr. Jimenez’s steadfast service and remain fully committed to sustaining the excellence our warfighters expect and deserve.”

DLA, the Defense Department’s logistics arm, provides global supply chain support to U.S. military services and other federal agencies. MCAS Cherry Point is a major aviation hub for the Marine Corps in North Carolina.
