DSCC celebrates Employee Appreciation Day with connection and camaraderie

The Defense Logistics Agency Weapons Support (Columbus) turned the Defense Supply Center Columbus into a campus-wide celebration on June 12, hosting an Employee Appreciation Day designed to spotlight the workforce behind the agency’s mission.

Across the installation, employees gathered for games, food and informal meet‑ups that brought colleagues together outside their usual routines. Cornhole proved a popular draw, with onlookers cheering as teams cycled through friendly matches. The event doubled as a rare chance for co-workers who typically connect only by email to meet face‑to‑face.

Food trucks ringed the central area, serving barbecue, tacos, sandwiches and desserts as staff lingered over extended lunches. Under nearby tents, internal teams and vendors offered demonstrations and casual introductions that highlighted a wide range of projects and roles across the installation, giving many attendees a clearer view of how their work fits into broader operations.

Navy Rear Adm. Julie Treanor, commander of DLA Weapons Support (Columbus), toured the activities with other agency leaders, personally thanking employees and emphasizing the expertise and resilience that underpin daily support to warfighters.

By day’s end, organizers said the gathering met its goals: employees left refreshed, better connected and with a renewed sense of pride in the community they sustain at DSCC.
