A Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services representative responsible for installations across New Mexico and parts of West Texas is highlighting how timely, accurate property disposition directly supports military readiness and saves resources. “A DSR sits at a genuinely important intersection — helping units and agencies responsibly close the loop on property so resources can be reallocated, reused, or properly retired. Every item processed correctly is one less bottleneck for the warfighter and one more dollar or asset that can be put back to good use,” the representative said in a recent agency profile.
Outlining the breadth of the territory, the representative added: “I am responsible for New Mexico to include Holloman AFB, White Sands Missile Range, Cannon AFB, Kirkland AFB, McGreggor and Stallion Range, and the bordering Fort Bliss Army Base in Texas.”
Before joining DLA Disposition Services, the representative built a finance and management foundation as an Air Force civilian budget analyst, later serving as a program analyst at the Defense Health Agency with a focus on medical expenses and performance reporting, and expanding into budget, contract administration and resource management roles.
One standout assignment underscored the precision required in the job. “One that stands out for me is when I was conducting a Receipt in Place for a training device originally valued at $2,584,913 — one of only two ever built. Processing an asset that rare and that high in value is not something that comes across your desk every day, and it really drove home the range of what this job touches. It’s a good reminder that every transaction, no matter how unusual, must be handled with the same level of precision and care.”
The representative urged units to engage early to avoid delays. “Don’t wait until the last minute — loop in your DSR early. The earlier we’re in the conversation, the smoother the process goes.” The top tip for customers: “Documentation is your best friend. Clean records up front save everyone time on the back end. Make sure the certificates you attach are true and verified.”
Describing what keeps the work rewarding, the representative said, “My favorite part of the job is the variety and unpredictability. I never quite know what will come across my desk next, whether it’s routine equipment or something like that one-of-two training device. It keeps the work genuinely interesting, and there is real satisfaction in knowing we’re helping to free up resources that can support the missions elsewhere.”
Away from work, the representative prioritizes time with loved ones. “Outside of the office, I dedicate my time to family. Whether it’s a sporting event for my kids, a get together with extended family members, or a day at the lake fishing and swimming. Spending time with them is my peace and happiness.”
