The Defense Logistics Agency will induct longtime property disposal leader Sherry Low into its 2026 Hall of Fame, honoring a four-decade federal career that shaped how the agency reuses excess equipment, streamlines demilitarization, and supports law enforcement.
The induction ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 7 at the McNamara Headquarters Complex auditorium on Fort Belvoir, Virginia. The event is open to all DLA employees and does not require invitations.
Low retired in 2020 after leading the DLA Disposition Services Customer Support Division, where she oversaw the Reutilization, Transfer and Donation program, customer relations, and the Law Enforcement Support Office. Under her leadership from fiscal 2017 to 2019, the reutilization program returned more than $6.6 billion in excess property to government use and helped the Army divest 1.2 million items. She convened the first joint DLA-Army Industry Day focused on demilitarization, an effort that produced a new process and cut transportation costs by over $800,000. During a 2015 presidential review, she also directed a structural overhaul of the program that provides surplus military equipment to law enforcement agencies.
“As a strong customer advocate, she stepped in without hesitation to ensure DLA’s core mission of taking care of the warfighter was always top priority,” wrote Michael Cannon, director of DLA Disposition Services, in his nomination. He also credited Low with bringing innovative ideas and steady expertise that earned wide respect across the disposal community.
Low is among this year’s class of five Hall of Fame inductees.
