Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has approved a second round of appointments to the Science, Technology and Innovation Board, bringing the total number of seats filled to 33 and accelerating the build-out of the department’s new, unified advisory body.
The board was formed by merging the Department of War’s Defense Innovation Board and the Defense Science Board, consolidating their roles to provide a single, cohesive source of innovation advice for the Joint Force.
Appointees were selected for their focus on supporting the warfighter and for a combination of scientific depth and private‑sector experience intended to help overcome bureaucratic hurdles.
At the outset, the board will take on congressionally directed work tied to priority issues at Kwajalein Atoll and the Reagan Test Site to sustain advantages in advanced testing and capability development. It will also prioritize digital modernization by improving and securing software delivery processes across the department.
