Three senior leaders at the Navy’s Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center in Yokosuka, Japan, have been relieved of duty, according to a Navy release. Rear Adm. Dan Lannamann, commander of Navy Regional Maintenance Center, removed Capt. Wendel Penetrante, Capt. Edwin Catubig and Master Chief Petty Officer Thomas Howell from their roles as commanding officer, executive officer and command master chief, respectively.
Capt. John Bauer, the Navy’s Supervisor of Salvage and Diving, has been assigned as the temporary commanding officer. Cmdr. David Reinhardt, the waterfront operations officer, is serving as temporary executive officer. Master Chief Petty Officer David Marcus, the CNRMC command master chief, has been named temporary command master chief.
“There is no impact to the command’s mission as a result of these reliefs.”
The Navy did not specify a reason for the leadership changes.
SRF-JRMC provides intermediate- and depot-level maintenance for Navy ships that support the U.S. 7th Fleet. The organization is based in Yokosuka, homeport to the forward-deployed aircraft carrier and a major hub for U.S. naval operations in the Western Pacific.
