The Navy Exchange Service Command has teamed with NASCAR driver and U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Jesse Iwuji to debut a NEX-branded uniform and race car ahead of NASCAR’s first event on an active military installation. Iwuji is slated to drive the DGM Racing x Jesse Iwuji Motorsports No. 91 Chevrolet Camaro SS on June 20, 2026, at Naval Base Coronado, California.
“We are thrilled to have Lt. Cmdr. Iwuji wear the NEX logo during this historic race,” said retired Rear Adm. Robert J. Bianchi, Chief Executive Officer of NEXCOM. “We are proud to be an integral part of the Navy’s 250th birthday. This race will honor the Navy’s legacy and programs that strengthen quality of life across the fleet.”
The race will air live across the continental United States on local CW affiliates and select live TV streaming platforms. The event is part of broader Navy 250th-birthday engagement efforts that leverage NASCAR’s reach to showcase service and life in the fleet.
Iwuji, a Naval Academy graduate and current Navy Reserve officer who competes at NASCAR’s national level, will represent a partnership between DGM Racing and Jesse Iwuji Motorsports, the team he co-owns alongside a group that includes Pro Football Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith. The Navy highlighted Iwuji’s dual roles as an example of leadership in high-profile, high-pressure arenas.
“As a Navy Reserve officer and NASCAR driver, representing the Navy on this stage is about more than racing,” said Iwuji. “It is an opportunity to show what service looks like in action and to inspire the next generation to see what is possible through discipline, commitment and hard work.”
Three Navy Exchange sweepstakes winners will receive behind-the-scenes VIP access at the Coronado event, including a meet-and-greet with Iwuji.
NEXCOM, which supports warfighter readiness and Navy community quality-of-life initiatives worldwide, says all of its earnings are reinvested into Navy quality-of-life programs—totaling more than $3.7 billion since 1946. The command operates within the Naval Supply Systems Command enterprise.
