U.S. Forces Conduct Strike Targeting al-Shabaab

In a coordinated operation with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) carried out an airstrike against al-Shabaab on July 13, 2026. The strike took place near Qumbi, located approximately 88 kilometers northwest of Kismayo, Somalia.

AFRICOM, in collaboration with the Somali Armed Forces, remains committed to degrading al-Shabaab’s capabilities to pose threats to U.S. personnel and citizens abroad.
