U.S. Forces Conduct Strike Targeting al-Shabaab

U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike targeting an al-Shabaab weapons and ammunition factory near Saacow in southern Somalia on Sept. 14, 2026.

The operation was coordinated with Somalia’s federal government. AFRICOM said it is working with the Somali government and Somali Armed Forces to degrade al-Shabaab’s ability to threaten U.S. forces and American citizens abroad.
