U.S. Forces Conduct Strikes Targeting al-Shabaab

U.S. Africa Command conducted airstrikes targeting al-Shabaab in Somalia on Sept. 25, 2026, in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia.

The strikes took place near Welmaro, about 40 kilometers west of Jilib, and near Ali Farhan, roughly 90 kilometers northeast of Jilib.

AFRICOM said it continues to work with Somalia’s federal government and armed forces to degrade al-Shabaab’s ability to threaten U.S. forces and American citizens abroad.
