Javelin Joint Venture and Tata Advanced Systems sign agreement to co-produce missiles in India

ORLANDO, Fla., August 30, 2026 — Tata Advanced Systems Limited and the Javelin Joint Venture, a partnership between Raytheon, an RTX business, and Lockheed Martin, have signed a memorandum of understanding to co-produce the Javelin All Up Round (AUR) in India.

The partnership names Tata Advanced Systems as the prime partner for future in‑country co‑production after an evaluation of multiple companies based on capability and expertise. Under the MOU, the parties will explore establishing a final assembly and integration facility for the Javelin AUR and component production capabilities in India, a step intended to support future Javelin production, expand opportunities for Indian industry, and contribute to regional stability in the Indo‑Pacific.

As outlined by the companies, the co‑production plan includes building a defense workforce in India while sustaining U.S. jobs through multiyear production of sub‑assembly kits at Lockheed Martin’s facility in Troy, Alabama, and guidance electronics units at Raytheon’s facility in Tucson, Arizona. Those components would be shipped to India for final assembly and integration.

The companies said bringing final assembly and integration to Indian facilities and suppliers is expected to strengthen India’s defense industrial base, create high‑tech jobs, advance local manufacturing expertise, and bolster global supply‑chain resiliency amid rising demand. They also said local co‑production aims to ensure a reliable supply of the Javelin system in the Indo‑Pacific, enabling faster fielding and sustained readiness for partner nations, while reinforcing interoperability and joint defense initiatives. Increased volume from co‑production can help the U.S. government achieve economic order quantities, improving affordability and creating measurable cost‑saving opportunities for programs that support JJV production.

Javelin is developed and produced by the Javelin Joint Venture between Raytheon in Tucson, Arizona, and Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Florida. To date, the venture has produced more than 55,000 Javelin missiles and more than 12,000 reusable Command Launch Units.
