LIMA, Peru — Aug. 26, 2026 — Lockheed Martin outlined a $1.8 billion industrial and social collaboration package for Peru tied to its F-16 Block 70 program, combining co-production opportunities, workforce training, and new education initiatives intended to integrate local companies into the company’s global supply chain.
“Lockheed Martin is committed to building a long-term partnership that benefits Peru and its people, while strengthening its defense capabilities,” said Tara Lause, vice president of business development for the Integrated Fighter Group at Lockheed Martin. “As we collaborate with the local industry, we aim to deliver tangible, high‑value opportunities that build a skilled workforce, enable knowledge transfer and create lasting economic impact on both sides of the partnership.”
The proposal features domestic assembly of an unmanned aerospace vehicle for the Latin American market, joint research hubs and an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Technical Institute, and advanced engineering and fighter‑maintenance courses for knowledge transfer. It also includes plans to expand Peru’s high-tech maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) footprint. The company says the F-16 Block 70 effort is intended to help internationalize Peru’s industrial capabilities and position the country as a regional hub for advanced unmanned systems and aerospace services.
“Lockheed Martin has proven industrial partnerships that build a skilled workforce, strengthen allied defense industrial bases, and drive economic growth,” Lause added. “With the F-16 Block 70, Peru is not just procuring the most advanced and capable fourth generation fighter – it is creating enduring alliances, military cooperation strength and industrial collaboration opportunities with the United States and many other countries.”
Lockheed Martin said the F-16 has a global fleet of more than 2,800 aircraft operating across 29 countries. The company describes the Block 70 as the newest and most capable F-16 produced to date, citing its service life, lifecycle cost, and worldwide support base, with advanced technology, radar and weapons systems designed to enhance pilot awareness and protection.
