MELBOURNE, Fla., April 20, 2026 — L3Harris Technologies said it has secured a contract worth more than $65 million to build solid rocket motors for the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS), a combat-proven, long-range guided missile system.
Under the award, the company will fabricate, test and deliver M124 rocket motors, igniters, exit cones and related components and services, with deliveries scheduled from 2027 through 2028.
“L3Harris remains focused on delivering advanced propulsion solutions to meet the needs of the ATACMS program,” said Scott Alexander, President, Missile Propulsion, Missile Solutions, L3Harris. “These contracts demonstrate our ongoing commitment to equip the U.S. Army and allied forces with reliable, combat-proven missile technology that enhances operational readiness.”
L3Harris said it has supported the Army’s ATACMS program for more than 30 years, with production centered in Camden, Arkansas. That site annually produces more than 115,000 solid rocket motors of various sizes across multiple programs and conducts more than 6,000 hot-fire tests each year. To address growing demand, the company is expanding in Camden with construction of more than 20 new advanced propulsion facilities.
The company also produces ATACMS Arm and Firing Devices at its Cincinnati, Ohio, location.
