Leidos set to bolster cyber defenses across Department of War networks

Leidos has secured a five-year, $301 million U.S. Army contract to provide around-the-clock cyber operations aimed at helping the Department of War detect and defend against threats across military networks.

The work is intended to strengthen the Department of War Information Network, the global backbone used by all U.S. military organizations, by monitoring activity 24/7 and developing new capabilities to advance cyber resilience.

“Resilience is the real measure of cyber defense,” said Steve Hull, president of Leidos Digital. “Our job is to help protect our nation’s cyber terrain by anticipating increasingly sophisticated threats, responding with speed and keeping critical missions moving. That means equipping our experts with AI-enabled capabilities for stronger cyber resilience, better situational awareness and faster, more coordinated responses that help mission leaders stay ahead of adversaries.”

The award continues Leidos’ existing support of the Army mission, providing defensive cyber capabilities for the U.S. and its allies. The company said it has combined cyber operations, engineering, and technology development to compress the time between detection and response, using advanced AI-enabled technologies.

Leidos said the contract aligns with its NorthStar 2030 strategy and focus on digital transformation and defensive cyber capabilities.
