CAMDEN, N.J., July 23, 2026 — L3Harris Technologies has secured a contract from General Dynamics Electric Boat to provide battery monitoring systems for the U.S. Navy’s Virginia- and Columbia-class submarine programs.
The systems are designed to support submarine readiness and effectiveness by delivering real-time battery health assessments that help commanders optimize mission profiles.
“These systems directly impact operational capability and crew safety,” said Nino DiCosmo, President, Maritime, Space & Mission Systems, L3Harris. “This contract reflects our commitment to delivering reliable solutions that support two of the service’s highest-priority submarine platforms that serve as the backbone of America’s strategic deterrence.”
L3Harris’ work with the Navy’s submarine force spans multiple generations, from Ohio- and Los Angeles-class submarines to today’s Virginia-class fast-attack boats. The company describes itself as a key contributor to the Columbia-class program, the Navy’s next-generation ballistic missile submarine.
