DIA’s Missile and Space Intelligence Center unveils new materiel exploitation center

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Defense Intelligence Agency’s Missile and Space Intelligence Center plans to cut the ribbon on its new Materiel Exploitation Center on Aug. 25 at the MSIC campus in Huntsville, marking completion of the first phase of a broader Advanced Analysis Complex, the agency announced.

Phase I adds facilities intended to expand MSIC’s ability to analyze and test foreign missile and space systems. According to the agency, the project brings new hardware exploitation and laboratory space, a vehicle maintenance facility, a hub for enterprise logistics management, and a central energy plant to the Richard C. Shelby Center for Missile Intelligence.

DIA Deputy Director Sharon Rose and MSIC Chief Steven Rush are slated to lead the ceremony. Expected attendees include U.S. Rep. Dale Strong, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle and Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Aaron Lukas, along with other supporters, the agency said.

MSIC provides scientific and technical intelligence on foreign weapons systems to support warfighters, inform acquisition programs and give policymakers decision advantage. The new center is intended to bolster the United States’ ability to counter increasingly complex threats and reflects DIA’s emphasis on deterrence amid intensifying strategic competition.

The MEC is the first of two phases planned for the Advanced Analysis Complex. DIA did not release a timeline for the second phase.
