Amentum appoints Dr. Sam Nazari as chief AI architect

CHANTILLY, Va., May 19, 2026 — Amentum has appointed Dr. Sam Nazari as Chief AI Architect, a new role tasked with driving companywide AI integration and collaborating with programs to enhance mission outcomes for customers across the defense, intelligence, energy, space, and commercial sectors.

Nazari’s remit spans both customer-facing AI solutions and internal operational automation. His priorities include aligning AI investments with mission-driven demand signals and ensuring deployments comply with FedRAMP, CMMC, and client standards.

He has led the architecture of systems ranging from AI-enabled supply chains to autonomous technologies supporting demanding defense environments and tactical operations. Before stepping into the Chief AI Architect position, he worked at Amentum leading key AI initiatives at DARPA, and previously held roles at Scientific System Company, Inc. and Systems & Technology Research, advancing AI and machine learning for the Department of Defense.
