“Amentum is dedicated to supporting the defense of our nation and delivering advanced solutions across the Department of War. Khalid Syed is uniquely suited to scale our offerings,” said Mark Walter, President for the Engineering and Technology Business Group of Amentum. “Syed’s extensive experience in complex defense systems, paired with his commitment to innovation, makes him the ideal leader to strengthen Amentum’s national security presence.”

Most recently, Syed served as an executive in the National Security Technology Sector at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he led a business with a large portfolio and oversaw steady revenue growth. His leadership supported critical national security programs, including the Battle Control System-Fixed (BCS-F) and the Northern Command/NORAD C2 modernization initiatives, work that bolstered homeland air defense and emphasized operational excellence.

Over his career, Syed has been closely involved in advancements in multi-domain operations, joint all-domain command and control (JADC2), and artificial intelligence-powered battle management. He has also been recognized for contributions to programs such as Space Force GPS modernization and the Defense of Guam initiative.

“I’m excited to join Amentum at a pivotal time in the company’s growth trajectory,” said Syed. “I look forward to driving growth as we deliver mission-critical solutions that safeguard the nation. Together, we will ensure Amentum continues to serve as a trusted partner to our government and defense clients.”

Syed holds an Executive MBA from Georgetown University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from George Washington University, along with Project Management Professional and Certified Systems Engineering Professional credentials.

Amentum, headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia, provides advanced engineering and technology solutions in science, security, and sustainability, and employs about 50,000 people in more than 70 countries across all seven continents.
