The S4 portfolio—logistics, engineering and force protection—anchors the ground side of the Space Force mission. Airmen supporting the service serve as the connective tissue with the Air Force, maintaining installations and critical infrastructure that underpin launch and on-orbit activities.

Representatives from Space Systems Command, Combat Forces Command, combatant field commands, Space Base Deltas and Space Launch Delta leadership took part, reflecting the enterprise’s operational backbone. With launch tempo continuing to rise on the Eastern Range, organizers framed the discussions around preparing installations for faster, higher-demand operations.

Working groups tackled base management, infrastructure resilience and supply-chain performance, stressing how dependable logistics and robust ground support directly drive mission outcomes. Sessions also addressed civilian workforce development, standardization across units and regulatory compliance. Participants toured launch service provider facilities on base to see firsthand the expanding launch ecosystem.

Leaders used the summit to share information, refine policy and map out the future role of S4 functions, emphasizing agility, security and uninterrupted mission execution. The event underscored how strong installations enable successful launches and sustained space presence.

“This isn’t just a meeting; it is a collaborative engine that ensures our Air Force command teams are fully integrated and supported as they provide the foundation for our nation’s space superiority,” said U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Samuel Waterman, deputy chief of the Installation and Mission Support Division.

Organizers said the four-day gathering advanced strategies to meet current challenges and anticipate future requirements, reinforcing the central role of S4 professionals in powering long-term mission effectiveness at Space Launch Delta 45 and across the service.
