The U.S. Space Force Honor Guard will unveil a revamped ceremonial service dress uniform at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington on Aug. 23, 2026, replacing the modified U.S. Air Force service dress Guardians have worn since the Space Force’s launch in 2019.

“The public will now be able to immediately recognize us as Guardians and key members of America’s warfighting capabilities,” said Chief Master Sgt. Ross Koehler, senior enlisted leader for the USSF Honor Guard.

Service officials say the ensemble is meant to cement a distinct Space Force identity. The design pulls in colors associated with the service flag and nods to elements from both the Operational Camouflage Pattern name tape and the Class A uniform.

“Having a dedicated ceremonial uniform ensures that our Guardians present a unified, unmistakable presence during high-visibility global missions,” said Koehler. “The updated uniform reflects the force’s evolving individual culture and pride in those who wear it.”

Compared with the standard service dress, the ceremonial look adds Space Force-blue accents, including a belt and cap, along with a left-shoulder cord intended to set the Honor Guard apart in public appearances.

“The Space Force is honored to share a history with the Air Force, but our mission to the space domain is concentrated and strategic,” said Koehler. “It requires further establishing a distinct identity.”

Policy guidance for the uniform was issued Jan. 13, 2026, and the Honor Guard spent the next eight months finalizing details ahead of the debut. Enthusiasm has been building among junior Guardians participating in the rollout.

“We have had a lot of firsts here,” said Spc. 3 Amelia Olsen, ceremonial guardsman with the USSF Honor Guard. “But this debut feels extra special because it lays out the foundation for us going forward, and I’m honored to be a part of this moment in history.”

“There have been many adjustments that we have seen on paper over the past several months,” Olsen said. “To be able to see it, wear it and finally be able to show it to the public now feels rewarding.”
