AULI, India — U.S. and Indian Army forces have launched a brigade-level Command Post Exercise running Sept. 15–22 as part of Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2026, aiming to sharpen staff proficiency and interoperability in planning and conducting Peacekeeping and Counter-Terrorism Operations.
The command post phase is set to produce an operations order that battalion-level units will use to carry out the exercise’s Field Training Exercise, directly linking staff planning to the small-unit training that follows.
Yudh Abhyas 2026 marks the 22nd iteration of the annual U.S. Army Pacific–sponsored bilateral exercise between the two armies. The event is scheduled to conclude Sept. 28 with a formal closing ceremony. Since 2004, Yudh Abhyas has enhanced combined interoperability and strengthened the U.S.-India Major Defense Partnership in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
