U.S. Forces Conduct Strikes Targeting al-Shabaab

U.S. Africa Command conducted airstrikes targeting al-Shabaab in Somalia on Sept. 24, 2026, in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia.

The strikes took place near Qumbi, about 90 kilometers north-northwest of Kismayo.

AFRICOM said it continues to work with Somalia’s federal government and armed forces to degrade al-Shabaab’s ability to threaten U.S. forces and American citizens abroad.
