U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces executed a series of airstrikes against targets associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Iran late on July 29. This operation was a direct response to missile attacks launched by Iranian forces on U.S. personnel stationed in the region the previous day.
The strikes involved a coordinated assault on key IRGC installations, which included military command centers, missile and drone production facilities, as well as coastal surveillance and defense sites. These actions were intended to reduce the threats that Iran and its affiliates pose to U.S. forces, international commercial shipping, and allied nations in the Gulf.
Prior to the strikes, IRGC launched several ballistic missiles from Iranian territory in an attempted surprise offensive against U.S. military positions. All of these missiles were successfully intercepted, preventing any casualties among American service members.
Currently, there are over 50,000 U.S. service members positioned in the Middle East, maintaining a state of readiness and vigilance in light of escalating tensions in the region.
