Palantir Technologies said the U.S. Army has set a common data layer baseline for its Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) effort, a move the company says will help shift the program from prototyping to wider delivery across additional Army formations.
The company said it has worked on NGC2 since early experimentation and prototyping, embedding with soldiers and industry partners through development and field validation. It described the new baseline as the Army’s foundational data architecture for NGC2—its highest‑priority modernization program—built on Palantir’s Foundry as the cloud data layer and Anduril’s Lattice as the tactical data layer. The architecture is intended to enable rapid scaling and seamless interoperability across the program’s ecosystem.
“The most consequential decisions in a program like NGC2 come down to the underlying architecture,” said Akash Jain, President and CTO, Palantir USG. “By establishing a common data baseline for NGC2 from the outset, the Army is creating the foundation on which future applications and AI-enabled mission capabilities can be built. As the cloud data layer, Foundry helps make that foundation durable and extensible — ready to deliver decision advantage to Soldiers as NGC2 moves from prototype to production.”
Palantir said it aims to support a broad NGC2 ecosystem that includes commercial software, government solutions, and soldier-built applications. It said it will continue working alongside Anduril, Lockheed Martin, and a wide range of traditional and non-traditional defense performers contributing to the program.
According to the company, NGC2 illustrates how commercial technology, agile acquisition, and soldier-informed development can compress the path from experimentation to fielded capability. It said the effort has brought together companies with differing business models, intellectual property approaches, and incentives—alongside government-developed capabilities—and made them function across large operational formations. The company attributed the program’s pace to starting with commercial technology and pairing it with a contracting approach designed to move quickly.
Palantir said it remains committed to supporting the Army as NGC2 scales, working with soldiers, Army leaders, and industry partners to put modern, open, data-driven tools in the hands of commanders and units operating in complex environments. The company said it measures success by enabling better information, faster decisions, and greater lethality for U.S. soldiers in the field.
