MCLEAN, Va. — Booz Allen Hamilton has appointed Michael D. Brasseur, a longtime U.S. Navy leader in maritime robotics, autonomy, and AI, as an executive vice president. In the role, he will help guide the firm’s defense technology business and its partnership and innovation strategies.
Brasseur served 26 years in the Navy and was the founding Commodore of Task Force 59, the service’s first unit dedicated to unmanned systems and AI. Under his command, the organization moved from concept to full operational capability in under 18 months and recorded more than 35,000 hours employing maritime robotics above, on, and below the water in support of the warfighter.
“We are thrilled to welcome Michael to Booz Allen,” said Andrea Inserra, president of Booz Allen’s global defense business. “His extraordinary leadership, deep operational experience, and passion for accelerating advanced technology will strengthen our ability to drive mission impact for the nation and its allies.”
Most recently, Brasseur was chief strategy officer at Saab, Inc., where he led development of the company’s five-year business plan and oversaw execution of its technology roadmap. He also served as general manager of Skapa by Saab, the company’s AI and autonomy accelerator, directing teams focused on applying AI and autonomy to operational problems to provide decision advantage to warfighters in collaboration with end users.
“Michael brings an operator’s intuition and a technologist’s vision to Booz Allen,” said Steve Escaravage, president of Booz Allen’s defense technology business. “He understands the pressures warfighters face and the emerging technologies they need. His ability to unite government and industry to solve mission challenges will help propel our continued growth and deliver breakthrough capability to the warfighter.”
Brasseur previously served on the Atlantic Council’s Commission on Software-Defined Warfare.
“Throughout my career, I’ve focused on bringing practical, mission‑ready technology to operators who need it right now, not in five years,” Brasseur said. “Joining Booz Allen is an opportunity to continue advancing that mission and delivering capability that makes a measurable difference for the nation’s warfighters.”
